03 / Reading the range

Reading 40, 60 and 80 GSM

All three grades run from 40 to 80 GSM, so 40, 60 and 80 GSM sit inside the range for white MG, brown MG and white MF.

A 40 GSM sheet weighs 40 grams per square metre. An 80 GSM sheet weighs twice as much per square metre. Within one grade, the heavier sheet is usually the thicker one, since fibre and finish stay the same.

04 / Choosing

Matching weight to the job

Across our ranges, lighter GSM suits wrapping and high volume. Heavier GSM suits handling and heavier product.

For printed wrap on white MG, the lighter end keeps the paper cost per wrap down. For bags and liners in brown MG, where the sheet takes handling, look at the heavier end.

Send us the job, the size and the print process. We will suggest a weight.

05 / Formats

06 / Metres

Weight and metres per tonne

We price reels by weight, so GSM sets how many metres a tonne gives you. One tonne of 1,000 mm paper holds 25,000 m at 40 GSM and 12,500 m at 80 GSM, spread across several reels.

For long print runs at a light weight, this difference decides how many reels you change on the press.

Questions

Before you specify

Do you supply 40 GSM MG paper?

Yes. White MG and brown MG both run from 40 to 80 GSM, so 40 GSM sits at the light end. The MOQ is 1 tonne per GSM and width.

Is 60 GSM MF paper available?

Yes. White MF runs from 40 to 80 GSM. You order MF by the reel, or by the ream from 100 reams per sheet size.

Which is heavier, MG or MF?

Neither by grade. Both run from 40 to 80 GSM. The difference is the finish: MG is glazed on one side, MF is even on both.
