What wax paper is

Wax paper is paper made moisture-proof and grease-proof with a coat of wax. Older wax papers used beeswax. Most today use paraffin.

The wax is the strength and the limit. The coat keeps moisture in a cold wrap, and the same coat smokes under oven heat.

How to decide

Ask one question: does the sheet go in the oven? If yes, use silicone-coated butter paper, rated to 230 °C. If no, both papers wrap food.

For parchment paper against wax paper, the answer is the same. Parchment or baking paper is the silicone-coated sheet for heat. Wax paper is for cold.

Butter paper formats from us

We supply butter paper, not wax paper. Butter paper rolls come in six widths from 300 to 1,200 mm, as retail rolls of 25 to 100 m or bulk reels of 500 to 2,000 m.

Pre-cut sheets come in 300×400, 380×500, 450×600 and 500×700 mm. Bulk rolls start at 250 kg per width and GSM, and sheets at 10,000 per size and GSM.

What is wax paper?

Paper coated with paraffin or beeswax, which makes the sheet moisture-proof and grease-proof. Wax paper is not for the oven.

Is wax paper safe in the oven?

No. The wax smokes under oven heat. Use silicone-coated butter paper, rated to 230 °C.

Do you sell wax paper?

No. We supply butter paper in three types, plus OGR for oily food.
