Butter Paper Rolls

Wins: The everyday liner: clean release, batch after batch, with no greasing. The silicone-coated type is rated to 230 °C.

Loses: Not the grade for oily food. Choose OGR there.

White OGR

Wins: Holds a barrier where a plain sheet would darken through. Five set weights, from 35 to 70 GSM.

Loses: No published oven rating. For oven work, choose silicone-coated butter paper.

02 / Decide

How to decide

Start with the food. Dry bakes need clean release, so butter paper fits. Fried and oily food needs a barrier, so OGR fits.

Then check the format. Butter paper comes on retail rolls, bulk reels and pre-cut sheets. OGR comes on reels slit to width, in sheets and in reams.

Then check the order size. Butter paper starts at 1 retail roll, or 250 kg per width and GSM in bulk. OGR starts at 500 kg per GSM and size.

Still unsure? Order samples of both and test them on your own counter.

03 / Uses

Where each paper fits

Butter paper lines trays and tins, batch after batch, with no greasing. Bakeries also use the paper to wrap pastry and sandwiches, and to interleave layers so product separates cleanly.

OGR wraps fried and oily food, where a plain sheet would darken through. Counters use white OGR for a clean presentation, and packers use the lighter weights where weight and cost both matter.

Questions

Before you specify

Is OGR paper the same as butter paper?

No. Both are light food papers, and each does a different job. Butter paper is the everyday liner for clean release. OGR holds a barrier against oil and grease.

Which paper suits oily snacks?

OGR. The sheet holds a barrier against fat instead of absorbing fat, so your wrap still looks clean when your customer receives the order.

Which paper goes in the oven?

Silicone-coated butter paper, rated to 230 °C. We make no oven claim for OGR or for the other two butter paper types.
