Butter paper

Wins: The food-contact sheet: clean release, and an oven rating on the silicone-coated type.

Loses: A light food sheet, to 50 GSM. For goods away from food, a general sheet does the job.

White MF paper

Wins: An even, general-purpose sheet either way up, by the reel or by the ream.

Loses: Not for direct food contact. Keep MF away from food.

02 / Decide

How to decide

Start with food. If the sheet touches food, use butter paper. White MF is not for direct food contact.

Away from food, white MF is the general sheet: even on both faces, from 40 to 80 GSM, with no side to orient.

Both sheets look pale and plain on a shelf. Label the stock, so MF never reaches the food line.

03 / Interleaving

Interleaving with each

Both grades interleave. Butter paper goes between food layers, so the product separates cleanly. White MF goes between non-food goods, such as folded garments.

04 / Formats

Formats and lead times

Butter paper rolls come in six widths from 300 to 1,200 mm, as retail rolls of 25 to 100 m or bulk reels of 500 to 2,000 m. Pre-cut sheets come in 300×400, 380×500, 450×600 and 500×700 mm.

White MF comes in reels from 500 to 1,500 mm wide and 1,500 to 4,000 m long, and in 500×700 and 700×1,000 mm sheets.

In-stock butter paper rolls ship in 2 to 5 working days, and sheets 2 to 4 weeks after size approval. White MF ships 3 to 5 weeks after spec approval.
