Paper for fried food

Fried food sheds oil onto whatever holds the food. OGR holds a barrier, so the oil stays off your counter and your customer.

01 / The job

What fried food asks of paper

An ordinary sheet absorbs fat and darkens through. On a counter tray or in a takeaway bag, the oil then reaches the surface below or the customer’s hands.

An oil and grease resistant sheet holds a barrier against fat instead of absorbing fat. The wrap still looks clean when your customer receives the order.

If you want paper to soak up oil after frying, you want a different product. OGR resists oil.

03 / Weight

Picking a weight

Our OGR comes in 35, 45, 55, 65 and 70 GSM. Lighter weights suit wrapping and high volume. Heavier weights suit handling and heavier product, such as a tray liner under a pile of pakoras.

Order swatches in two weights and test them with your own food before you commit.

04 / Format

Formats for counters and kitchens

OGR comes in 300×400, 400×600 and 500×700 mm sheets, and on reels from 300 to 1,200 mm wide, slit to order.

The MOQ is 500 kg per GSM and size. Lead time is 2 to 3 weeks from stock, or 6 to 8 weeks for a new mill run.

05 / Uses

Liners and wraps

Use OGR as a tray liner under fried snacks on the counter, and as a wrap or bag liner for takeaway. One grade covers both jobs, in different sizes.

Questions

Before you specify

Does OGR paper absorb oil?

No. OGR holds a barrier against fat instead of absorbing fat, so oil stays on the inside of the wrap.

White or brown OGR for fried snacks?

Both share the same grease barrier. Pick brown for a natural look and white for a clean, retail look.

Is OGR safe for hot fried food?

OGR is one of our two food grades. Tell us what the paper will touch, and we tell you which grades are cleared for the job.
