Butter paper for roti
Kitchens across India wrap fresh rotis in butter paper for tiffins, counters and takeaway. Pick the type, then the format, then the quantity.

01 / The job
Why kitchens wrap roti in butter paper
A stack of fresh rotis needs a wrap for the trip from tawa to plate, tiffin or delivery bag. Butter paper is a light, food-grade sheet, so the wrap folds easily around the stack.
Our butter paper runs from 35 to 50 GSM. At this weight the sheet folds tight around a stack and adds little bulk to a tiffin.
Rotis carry little oil, so a butter paper wrap suits them. For parathas and other oily flatbreads, look at OGR, which holds a barrier against fat.

02 / Type
Which butter paper type
All three of our butter paper types are food-grade: silicone-coated, vegetable parchment and greaseproof uncoated.
Rotis come off a tawa, not out of an oven, so you need no oven rating for wrapping. If the same kitchen also bakes, the silicone-coated type covers both jobs, since this type is rated to 230 °C.
For oily flatbreads such as parathas, compare butter paper with OGR. Our guide on butter paper vs OGR paper sets the two side by side.
03 / Format
Roll or pre-cut sheets
Rolls suit a kitchen cutting wraps to length through the day. Our butter paper rolls come in widths of 300, 380, 450, 600, 900 and 1,200 mm.
Measure your widest roti, add room for the fold on both sides, and pick the nearest width. A narrow width suits single tiffin wraps, and a wider width suits stacks for counters.
Pre-cut sheets suit a counter repeating one wrap size all day. Our sheets come in 300×400, 380×500, 450×600 and 500×700 mm, so you pull one sheet and wrap with no cutting.

04 / Quantity
How much to order
For a home kitchen or a small counter, start with a retail roll. Our retail rolls run 25 to 100 m, and the KEIKOwrap range sells these rolls one at a time.
For a tiffin service or a restaurant, move to bulk. Bulk reels run 500 to 2,000 m, from 250 kg per width and GSM. Sheets start at 10,000 per size and GSM.
Work out your daily use from the length of one wrap and the number of wraps a day. Our guide on how much butter paper a bakery uses shows the same maths for trays.

Wrapping tips
Let steam settle for a moment before you close the wrap, so moisture does not pool inside the fold.
Fold the paper over the stack and tuck the ends under, so the wrap holds without tape.
Keep the roll or sheet stack covered and dry near the tawa. Paper stored near steam and splashes softens before use.
Questions
Before you specify
Is butter paper safe for hot rotis?
Yes. All three of our butter paper types are food-grade stock. For oven use, order the silicone-coated type, rated to 230 °C.
Which width suits roti wrapping?
Measure your widest roti and add room to fold. Our rolls come in 300, 380, 450, 600, 900 and 1,200 mm widths.
Where do I buy a single roll?
Our KEIKOwrap retail range sells parchment rolls one at a time. For bulk reels, ask us for a quote.
Does butter paper suit parathas?
Parathas carry more oil than rotis. For oily flatbreads, OGR holds a barrier against fat, so compare the two on your own food.
Do you sell pre-cut sheets for roti wrapping?
Our butter paper sheets come in 300×400, 380×500, 450×600 and 500×700 mm. For another size, ask us for a quote.
