Glossary
Jumbo roll
Jumbo roll is the trade name for a large parent reel of paper, wound at the mill and later slit or rewound into smaller rolls.
01 / The process
From jumbo roll to finished roll
A paper machine winds the full web onto a jumbo roll, also called a parent roll or master roll. Merriam-Webster sets a jumbo roll at over 10 to 12 inches in diameter, made for converting.
A slitter rewinder unwinds the jumbo roll, cuts the web into narrower widths with rotary blades, and rewinds each width onto a smaller core.

02 / Our formats
Retail rolls, bulk reels and jumbo rolls
Our butter paper comes as retail rolls of 25 to 100 m and bulk reels of 500 to 2,000 m. OGR reels run 1,000 to 3,000 m, MG and MF reels 1,500 to 4,000 m, and kraft reels 1,000 to 3,000 m.
A bulk reel is a converting format. You slit or rewind the reel on your own line, or feed the reel into a machine.
03 / Buying
When to buy reels over rolls
Buy retail rolls when your kitchen cuts by hand. Buy bulk reels when you run a dispenser, a rewinder or a converting line.
Tell us your machine width and the reel length you handle, and we will match a format.
