Slitting

Slitting is cutting a wide reel of paper lengthwise into narrower reels on a slitter rewinder.

01 / The process

How slitting works

A slitter rewinder unwinds the parent reel, cuts the wide web into narrower strips, and winds each strip onto its own core.

Paper machines make webs far wider than most converting and printing lines use. So most reels you buy have been slit.

02 / Our widths

Slitting at KEIKO PAPERS

We slit OGR reels to order, from 300 to 1,200 mm wide. Butter paper rolls come in six standard widths from 300 to 1,200 mm, and bulk reels come in widths to your requirement.

Kraft reels run 600 to 1,800 mm wide, and MG and MF reels 500 to 1,500 mm. Every slit reel has a clean cut edge, unlike the feathered deckle edge of handmade paper.

03 / Ordering

Ordering a slit width

Send the finished width and the machine the paper runs on. We will confirm what is practical.

Reels slit to your width never go back to stock, so we call to confirm the width before cutting.
