Kraft
Wins: Long fibres give tear and burst strength, from 60 to 120 GSM. The toughest paper in our range.
Loses: No grease barrier, and not for direct food contact.
Brown OGR
Wins: Holds a barrier where a plain sheet would darken through, at light weights from 35 GSM.
Loses: Built for the grease barrier, not for strength in transit. For heavy goods, use kraft.

How to decide
Start with what touches the paper. Food with oil needs OGR. Goods in a carton need kraft.
Weight works differently in each grade. OGR stays light, from 35 to 70 GSM, because the barrier does the work. Kraft runs heavier, from 60 to 120 GSM, because the weight carries the load.

Keep the two apart
Brown kraft and brown OGR look alike on a shelf. Label the reels and store them apart.
Kraft is not for direct food contact, and a plain sheet on oily food darkens through. OGR is a food grade, not a packing grade for heavy goods in transit.
04 / Formats
Formats and order sizes
OGR reels run 300 to 1,200 mm wide, slit to order, with sheets at 300×400, 400×600 and 500×700 mm. Kraft reels run 600 to 1,800 mm wide, with sheets at 700×1,000 and 900×1,200 mm.
OGR starts at 500 kg per GSM and size, and ships in 2 to 3 weeks from stock. Kraft starts at 1 tonne per GSM and width, and ships 3 to 6 weeks after spec approval.

Using both in one order
A takeaway order uses both. OGR wraps the fried food. A kraft bag carries the wrapped order.
Keep the OGR wrap between the food and the kraft, since kraft is not for direct food contact.

Before you specify
Is OGR paper the same as kraft paper?
No. OGR is an oil and grease resistant grade for food. Kraft is a long-fibre strength grade for packing.
Is kraft paper greaseproof?
No. Our kraft carries no grease barrier and is not for direct food contact. Use OGR for oily food.
Which is stronger, kraft or OGR?
Kraft. The grade is built around tear and burst strength. OGR is built around the grease barrier.
